AAL’s founding director Thomas Schroepfer was one of five invited panelists of “Smart Cities: Towards a Better Life?”, an international La Nuit des Idées (The Night of Ideas) event organised by Institut Français that took place at Alliance Française Singapour on 23 January and broadcasted internationally. The topic was introduced Jean-Christophe Bailly, a French writer and philosopher who shared his views of urban space from a philosophical and historical perspective. The panel subsequently debated the future of cities and the question if the use of technology can lead to more liveable urban environments. The event was moderated by Carrie Nooten, a French reporter and the creator of Topo Togo.
