From the editor’s summary:
Exhibitions are events that are capable of drawing large crowds into an area. A significant component of an exhibition is the pavilion: showcase areas that are constructed for the purpose of display. In the creation of a pavilion, architects play a role in conceptualising interesting forms that catch the attention of the visitor. The pavilion is an opportunity to showcase new forms and technologies, pushing the barriers of usual methods of building. According to Giuliana Bruno, the pavilion was an important element in the growth of modernity, showcasing a nation’s latest methods and technologies in world exhibitions and fairs. An exhibition titled “The Future of Us” in Singapore features a pavilion that presents a vision of life in the nation-state for the upcoming years.
