Urban Microclimate Prototype 01 is the first in a series of of parametrically designed architectural prototypes for the generation of urban microclimates for the tropics. The lust form of the approximately 3x3x2 metre-large structure is determined by extensive environmental simulations and structural optimisations and achieved through the innovative use of glass-fibre reinforced concrete. It uses passive as well as active design strategies by taking advantage of prevailing local winds and shade paths as well as an embedded radiant cooling system to provide users with an experience of outdoor thermal delight in the tropics.
